A year later! Life is good. I am working as a NICU nurse at major hospital in Atlanta with other fabulous nurses and beautiful babies. NICU is the reason I went back to school and it was a great choice. It has been a crazy summer after finishing my internship, I am working nights and it's a perfect fit. I get to be spend quality time with the babies.
My artwork seems to have transferred in little ways to the hospital- Name tags for baby's area! IT just a little thing, but each baby has his/her own space. It's their home away from home.

I am still a few things here and there for others relating to painting and such, but they are on my terms really. I like my time off to sit and enjoy family. I have never felt like I had free time as a self employed person. I was always thinking about how I needed to bring in more work. It's nice to have real down time. At least now, I can decide what and when.

Congrats to friends in Illinois on retirement- Chief Tom Mulhern of the Westmont Police Department. Hope your days to come as my days off !
And congrats to the Franklin Police Department on their acquistion and remodeling of their new building. Moving on up and growing strong!!

Happy Graduation and Retirement Party

School is complete and a new career awaits! I finished school in July and celebrated my pinning with awards for leadership and academic excellence. It has been a hard fought four years for top of the class for grades- Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society!. I have made some great friendships that will last forever. And as I attained my state license for registered nursing, I was offered two wonderful opportunities to work in my nursing specialty field of interest,- and I accepted a position for NICU RN at one of the top hospitals in the nation for women's services here in Atlanta. I am excited to begin my new career in nursing in November. Until then, I have been completing a number of paint by number kits for Plaid Enterprises ( these can be purchased at Micheals, Hobby Lobby, and other craft retailers) and my last mural for Providence Elementary- the gym. I need to thank all my past clients and friends/families that I have been able to become involved with through my artwork. It has been my pleasure and my good fortune to have you in my life.

Getting, ready to paint some additional murals this fall since Plaid is not giving me enough work. Can't wait around for them when they're not doing the same for me . I was able to do some work at Centralhatchee elementary this summer w a wonderful principal, carol Thomas. I'm looking forward to getting back there for more next month.

New school year 2014

Updates.... Psych semester - passed with an A, yay. I worked pretty hard to get that. It certainly is not my favorite subject. Everybody has a little psychosis is within us all, so it's a bit scary to jump into to that world. But that's over for now, and I am currently in my mother baby semester.
School has been in session for four weeks and today is our first test. I'm definitely nervous for this one. First test with all new teachers and who knows how hard each question will be.
Another adventure begins as my clinicals yesterday brought me to the labor and delivery floor. I was able to witness one vaginal birth and one cesarean birth. Wonderful and those new babies are my favorite! I found myself drawn to the newborn assessment more than the mama and the trauma of childbirth. Don't get me wrong..certainly fascinating but I'm drawn to the babies.
Since April, I've also been low carving. With that has come a loss of 35 pounds and wearing clothes that fit better. Its been 25 years since I've been this weight. I'm looking forward to losing more. Its been pretty easy . Its the way I eat anyway.
The last for now...Natl Technical Honor Society member! Woohoo!
Off to study and take exam!

Summer semester is complete!

Happy days are here again! Psych semester is finished. My final went well, better than I thought. Finished the final with an A and the semester with a 93! So glad that all the worry about only three tests is done and done. Now to get some artwork complete and pay some bills. No vacation this year and a staycation means fixing the house that's been out off too long. But damn the humidity here in Georgia is enough to kill you in the process.
Got to see Tim McGraw's concert at Lakewood last night. We could see up close but it was nice to be outside to see a concert. Good night and date to celebrate 32 years!

Psych ending

Just a few more days and the psych semester will be finished. A few weeks of work and a few weeks break and ,we'll start over again! It'll be nice to chill for a few weeks and get things done around the house. No vacation this year- bills come first. Nursing school is a strain on the wallet so vacation will be postponed til next year!
